Police stated they were notified by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then found many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.

An important representative stated the attack made him without words and had to be addressed quickly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
