Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving play style and regular reactions on court had caused some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to create a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early break points in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
